"I'm Miserable. I Don't Know Why?"| A Real Life Client Story
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 61
In this episode we meet my client Daisy* who is not happy in her job. My challenge to her included a Positive Psychology practice to help her change her mindset, give up her unrealistic expectations in place of what what accurate and helpful; and to consider what the intention is that she brings to her work.
Ultimately, I reminded Daisy of how she is responsible for her happiness and how she can find happiness now.
The energy you bring to anything is most powerful. It is your intention that drives your experience. If you decide that you will look at every task, every job, every transaction as that which is meaningful and if you give each your attention, care, and love ~ and as you take necessary moments to consider the positive in what you do and why, then everything becomes more purposeful and important.
Think of it as imprinting upon all that you do with your personal energy vibration.
You can imprint a hurried, anxious energy vibe or an attitude of care and loving-kindness. Your attitude and intention brings value and enjoyment to all that you do.

Self-Acceptance Is The Language of Self-Love
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 60
Self-acceptance is how you move into your heart. It is how you choose to witness yourself in the presence of wonder and great light. If you are listening perhaps you have contemplated what self-acceptance truly feels like; how it embraces all of you; how the majesty of what you are and what you hold becomes sacred.
To live in the acceptance of who and what you are is to live of your spiritual self. It is to hold true to who you are in the face of honoring what you seek to become; and in the presence of right action.
A part of what you will hear in this episode comes out of my 10-day course: ‘The Sacred Teachings of Being Love.’ You can find this course and others in The School of Wisdom. (This course is set to launch in the summer of 2021).
Self-acceptance is one extraordinary element to living whole and feeling self-love. It is intrinsically tied to how you live and respond in the world.
If you have been struggling to build your confidence. If your self-esteem has cause you to doubt your abilities. If your confidence needs to be reflective of all that you truly are, then sit back with attention; you may choose to close your eyes to take in all of my words as you allow this wisdom in to you; to be what you have been in search of.
Acceptance is the value of appreciation and approval. It is the inner felt knowledge that you are more than enough. It is self-love in words and actions that are spoken quietly to yourself and as you speak about yourself in conversation with others.
I share this sacred practice with you as most people struggle to feel true acceptance. It is a part of our inherent desire; to be approved of and accepted by others as a hard-wiring for our oneness. We look for ways to make ourselves better in what measures we believe will be externally valued - by society, media, religion, culture; when true acceptance can only be yours to give to yourself.
You may also seek to become more just to do this because it is important for you and for your personal goals and the desires that fuel your right action. Then, what improvements you pursue, will continue to benefit all of you. Think of self-acceptance as the language by which you speak to yourself as encouragement, as pride, as the methods by which you choose to hold value and self-love.
Here I share the most important builders of self-acceptance beginning with your ability to appreciate and be loving of all that you already are. You do this with gentle and kind words written and spoken and the ever-present appreciation for that which you do not take for granted; and that all that you are capable of.
My hope is that you will dive and take advantage of the skill practices of self-acceptance that I share here as an excerpt from the 10 day course: 'The Sacred Teachings of Being Love.' Self-Acceptance is the topic of Day Two of the course. This is one episode that you will want to dive into with pdf and pen!
Sending you much love....

Why Do Some People Refuse to Change? | Q & A
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 59
Even as the whole point of therapy and life coaching is to help someone self-actualize; that is to realize their full potential, in this episode we take a deep look into why some people refuse and reject change. Why they continue in unhealthy and addictive habits; remain stuck in limiting and prejudice beliefs; blame others rather than hold a mirror up to themselves; and choose to aimlessly excuse their actions under the guise of remaining a victim – even when their loved ones point out the root of their suffering and encourage and offer unrelenting help.

Where Do I Begin?
'ask dorothy'
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 57
Your answers are waiting for you.
💜
Where Do I Begin?
This is a natural response to the idea of beginning therapy for those who have never had the experience.
---
Where you begin is with: self-honesty and the willingness to see yourself accurately as you are.
Sometimes in my work with clients this becomes a focus over several sessions when someone has been living a life that is skewed - a reality that has allowed them to continue in unhealthy and dishonest habits and certainly unhealthy relationships.
Be willing to look at your dark side - the parts of you that keep you from living as your best self.
Moments when you are inauthentic, dishonest, unkind, hurtful to yourself or others - and to what ongoing narratives keep you feeling stuck, sad, lonely, afraid and anxious and ultimately suffering.
Where do you begin?
Begin with something that you want to effectively change - to make better, to overcome.
Begin with addressing a part of yourself that is causing your suffering - a part of the past that is yet unresolved - or a current state of being in which you feel hurt, sad, unwanted, unloved.
Therapy is to give you the right tools so that you can live a happier existence - to live wholly honest and truthful and to guide your life in a way that feels most meaningful, complete, full and rewarding.
Sending you great 💜 love...

How Do I Let Go Of Thoughts That Are Not Positive?
'ask dorothy' | Q & A
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 55
‘To notice one’s thoughts in daily life is an example of being mindful and self-aware.’
Q:
"I am working on letting thoughts occur outside of my meditation practice without using resistance to those thoughts that do not serve me positively. Do you have any suggestions on making those experiences flow more smoothly?"
A:
When you notice thoughts that do not serve you; that you may be resisting, notice if these are thoughts that require further exploration and understanding.
Our instinct can be to avoid or disavow thoughts that are unwanted and which cause discomfort, rather than to look at them and discern whether they are thoughts that act as reminders of what is important and needs your attention, or if they hold accuracy and truth; and if not, how you will then replace them with thoughts that you choose proactively.
To live awake and aware is to have the ability to be notice your thoughts; to allow them to pass, and to choose the thoughts that you most wish to hold.
Please join me in this special Q & A episode of 'ask dorothy' as I share the best practices to let go of unwanted thoughts.

To Live As Your Best Self - 'Be Love'
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 54
with Dorothy Ratusny
In this episode I share divine spiritual wisdom in the practical ways that allow you to make it real in its wonderment and the real enhancements of your life.
These are the wonderful new buzz words of modern day. #liveyourbestself #liveyourbestlife. I would add to this list, #liveasyourhighestself #liveawake #liveyourtruth and of course #belove.
All of which illuminate a raising of global consciousness and the prevailing idea that we cannot only improve and transform who we are, but we can do this in real time.
The moment that you make the decision to change your life and if this desired choice is most important, as long as you never give up on this, if you see it through, you will manifest it.
Here I want to help make it easier; to give you the secrets for how you may live your best self; your authentic self; yourself as a being of love.

Your Anxiety Is Not You + 'The Goober Effect' | A Real Life Client Story
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 53
My client Gabby* initially sought my help for her unmanageable anxiety and the panic attacks that she suffered alone and in shame and silence. Her new job, while with the same financial institution was several levels above what her previous role had been.
As much as Gabby was the right candidate and her current boss and team valued her skills and the honesty and transparency with which she lived; there was no opportunity to relish in her successes because, as Gabby realized through our talks, she was submersed in the depths of her anxiety, self-doubt, and insecurity with each prevailing and uncontrollable thought.
“Would she be successful in this new role?” “How could she do her very best each day with efficiency and without making mistakes?” “Why wasn’t she getting all of her work finished?” “What did others on the team think of her abilities?” and “Would she have to quit if her workload and how she felt if this anxiety and pressure didn’t improve?”
This client story echoes the work of alleviating anxiety for so many who struggle with the world’s biggest mental health problem, and the special friend that helped her live in the present moment.
*The name of my client has been changed to uphold confidentiality. Some of the details of her story may be changed to maintain her privacy.

COVID-19 + 1 Year = Three Positive Life Lessons
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 52
with Dorothy Ratusny
In this episode, I share three immensely positive outcomes that have eternally imparted on us the opportunity for self-evolution, the need for greater autonomy and emotional well being; the freedoms that truly matter, and terms of endearment that we foster through our human shared experiences and love.
In listening, I hope that you feel uplifted and with a newfound sense of awe as you continue to look for and find the good in what this pandemic - one year later – has meant; the good that is within us; the good that reflects what more is to come; the good that results from change that was needed, necessary and now a strictly enforced part of our life; and of course, the good that we have not yet begun to see.
This is not to overlook all of those who have been sick, who have died, who have lost dear loved ones during this past year; and for those of us who may still contract the virus. At the time of release of this episode there has been 115 million cases reported of the coronavirus and 2.55 million deaths.
Here I also three examples of how our lives have veritably, changed for the better. I do not wish to downplay anything of significance or to lessen the severity of these times, rather to account for what we also need to remember and appreciate – one year later and beyond.

Love Your Body | A Real Life Client Story
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 51
This client story highlights the ongoing struggle of our human condition to accept and approve of our self as we are.
This client had made the decision to have breast augmentation surgery in part, she admits, because her partner at the time had made disparaging remarks about her body.
She believed that having this surgery and implants would improve her body image and confidence.
Post surgery, she discovered that the size of her implants were much larger than she had anticipated.
The words of her surgeon ring clearly in her ears, even to this day: “No one,” he said “is ever disappointed that their chest is too large.”
My client admits that this decision was life altering, but not in the way that she had hoped. She actually took great effort to now conceal her chest (something that she had never done before), because she felt self-conscious and that her implants were far “too large”.
What was supposed to help her feel “better about her body” actually resulted in her feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable with the unwanted attention.
I wanted to share the truth of this client’s story as I imagine that other women have also been left to deal with the psychological implications of their experience of breast augmentation surgery, in silence and alone.

Here we are. At the time of release of this episode, it is almost one year to the day that the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed the coronavirus as pandemic.
We are discussing a topic this is long overdue, that you may have already been experiencing; that we all need to shed more light upon so that you and others who are suffering in sadness and with depression can heal yourself.
This information is not intended to replace your proactive work and the medical attention that I would encourage you to seek, particularly if you experience any or all of the symptoms that I will describe shortly.
Something that we don’t speak enough about; sadness has a place in your life; not forever, not as a condition that you must live in each day; but as a reminder that you have the infinite propensity to feel; to feel for another living being, to feel the suffering and grief of another, of yourself; and for real and just reasons.
To release what sadness has enveloped you, you must first be willing to let it in; to acknowledge it; to say ‘I feel this.’ ‘I feel sad.’ To acknowledge sadness is to then have the power to do something more with it; and to release the burden of needing to keep what you feel away or hidden; to disavow how you feel, or to feel lost or submerged in its abyss.
In this interactive journey into what depression is and how you can best help yourself, let me also present another theory: prolonged sadness and depression is also the result of a lack of love.
“If love was once conditional or absent, you can still feel loved.” - dorothy ratusny
It now must be because of you. You must now learn to love yourself – for yourself (and to also integrate healthy self-care and self-love back into your life).
We’ll talk more about this as I go through this list The 12 + 1 BONUS Best Solutions for Healing Depression - Naturally.
Beyond what you will integrate of this list into your life (hopefully most or all of it), I also highly recommend that you find a caring and loving therapist that can provide helpful guidance and support as you discover what it means to acknowledge your feelings and then to be willing to release them as you decide instead what you need to feel; and to be willing to do this for yourself.
We’re going to begin your self-assessment with the 'big list'; the official diagnostic and statistical manual (or DSM-5) and the criteria that your physician or psychiatrist would use to make an official diagnosis.
We begin here because this information is the Holy Grail for what constitutes a major depressive disorder (MDD) and it is also completely available in the public realm. It is important that you have the accurate means to self-assess.
Please join me for this valuable dive into what it means to heal yourself from depression.
Download the PDF and your 'Depression Free Checklist' which includes the DSM-5 criteria to self-assess depression, resources and the science-based studies that back each of the natural solutions I have listed. Please click here:

Till Death Do Us Part | A Real Life Client Story
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 49
There are always multiple perspectives to any story. One objective in couples therapy is to help both individuals speak the truth; to no longer hold onto what they each have told themselves is permissible or acceptable, for whatever their reasons may be and to examine their part in the relationship breakdown or in this case, final death.
In my work with couples therapy, the attention is also directed towards each individual member so that each may begin to examine themselves in a way that would allow for self-honesty and to be able to make the changes that are necessary to improve the relationship but also to improve upon one’s self and to live authentic and true.
My other client; the husband was lost in his anger; the anger that was exacerbated by feelings of betrayal and his world crumbling around him. The only reason he claimed to remain under the same roof indefinitely, was to secure a means of seeing his children.
When you have dishonesty, secrecy, lies, and deception; regardless of the reasons you tell yourself in order to make this okay, you actually build greater distance from your partner. You also create fragmentation from your authentic self. Every dishonest action, every act of deception builds a fortress of walls, disconnection and lies that forges a wedge; that makes it nearly impossible for you to be transparent. This is also called ‘living a double life’.
This client kept secret his gambling addiction and a large debt he had accumulated whilst the couple was dating. He also kept hidden his binges on cocaine that he convinced himself were allowable and justified in dealing with his wife’s affair.
If you are not able to be truthful and honest in what is the most important relationship you will ever have with another person; if you are convinced that you need to hide parts of yourself, your actions, your choices and to live this double or secret life, then this marks the ending of what you thought you had. Without the ability of both members to be honest and truthful; you cannot have the transparency and complete trust that allows for a love relationship to be sacred.
Consider this for a moment. Do you have complete and whole honesty in your love relationship? Can you be and express yourself without fear that you will be judged by your partner? Do you question whether you have the approval of your partner and do you constantly seek this, because their expectations of you may not be realistic nor aligned with your deepest values and morals? Sometimes we do not even know that our partner has expectations of us (which may or may not be reasonable) until they are unhappy or angry with us for not fulfilling these.
And in this true life client story; as we continued to unpack still more layers of the past; it became apparent that only one member of the couple was willing to come clean; to find their way beyond the deceptions, lies, and dishonesty; and their fear of speaking the truth. The other member at the time of writing this, continued to have an inconsolable need to be in control by seeking power through means of instilling fear; being abusive; in continued secrecy and deception; and the ever-present feelings of hatred and contempt.
Without both members willingness to reveal their whole truth and to stand in the light of what this would mean for what needed to then be healed, there would be no turning back.
There was no fixing this; there would only be the saving of each person’s self in being separate; in examining one’s own actions and the need to find wholeness in living authentic and true to one’s self first.
What you need in order to have a loving relationship that will continue to grow with each person’s own deliberate and continued desire to evolve and improve: is unconditional love and support; whole honesty and truthfulness in all moments, and the ability to be yourself as you are; with flaws, insecurities; with good habits or bad ones; all whilst both members become more.
By definition “more” is about self-awareness and positive change that allows for self-improvement and personal growth. This allows each person to experience wholeness; to heal from what has happened in their past, and to continue to become all of the person that they are capable of; and this includes consciousness (that is self-awareness, observation and self-honesty) and the ability to live awake and aware).
There are many happy endings for couples who decide to uncouple; who admit honestly that their relationship has been unhealthy at best. For this, there can be no judgment, rather the understanding that they must first learn to be with themselves; to have a mutually exclusive and loving relationship with who they are and as they seek to become their best self in so that they may attract the best possible partner.

In this episode here I wish to remind you of the infinite power of something we all have and what it can do when we seek to use its power to thrive.
I know this because I live this together with you. I teach the power of breath not only as a helpful means to calm and release anxious thoughts and the physical sensations that immediately follow, but also how to experience one of the most precious and sacred aspects of all of life; that is – how to truly witness and envelope the present moment and how to live in its immense and graceful beauty and how to charge forward in the certain knowledge that you have this very precious and ability of how to live in the here and now.
Join me for this offering of pure enlightenment. I want you to also have the experience of how the conscious experience of breath will change your life as it has mine and so many other. Together you and I witness the pure power and perfection of conscious breath.
This episode, is a reminder in the ‘here and now’ of the intuitive potential of you and of this moment. This episode is about manifesting; its about being clear about what is wanted and it is about the path and the means to which you attain this; all out of the presence of this moment and each moment that you live in full awareness and presence.
Here, I share words in prose to introduce what the brilliance of something that we all have. Use breath as the conduit to hold presence. Use breath to calm and settle the mind; to open the path into your heart for what you know you must do. Let breath be the focus that you may free your mind to hold presence of your intuitive wisdom.
Sharing the wisdom and beauty of divine love with you...

Be Honest With Yourself | A Real Life Client Story
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 47
There is a choice that we make at some early point in our developmental process. It often goes undetected. It is a point and space in time in which we distinctly forgo some or much of our innate confidence and the pure knowing of who we are and what is important to us in trade for what we are being taught in the replete messages in the world and through our caregivers; of how we are to be socially acceptable, how we are to best fit in, and to be approved of by others.
It is at this precipice that we put aside some of what we know to be true and begin a conversation in our mind that preempts what our heart is speaking. If we continue to live here; in the space and time of the world inside our mind and in the thoughts that we convincingly hold; we may build a life, influenced by what others have said and told us we must do, rather than what truth and integrity we hold from witnessing our inner landscape and the intimate portrayal of honesty and integrity that rivals nothing.
We all know how to live in our truth. We as a collective, and as a human race have moved in various degrees away from this; and some of us have dangerously ventured into a space that we have constructed in our mind that makes it okay to behave in ways that is self-governed in dishonest acts.
And yet there is always an inner honing device, called consciousness; that is resistant to what thoughts and convincing beliefs you may hold; that allows you the inner integrity of conscience.
At what age did you begin to compromise your truth to yourself by the thoughts that you told yourself and believed, and perhaps the thoughts that were once the words and messages spoken by others? At what time did you notice this and call it back; to live in the honest truth of what is?
My client is a high performer in every aspect of her life; and excels in all of her courses as well as the game of basketball and soccer to which she plays at an elite level.
As well, this client’s anxiety was a lot bigger than she ever admitted to. The stress of always needing to do her best in everything and to constantly compete with her peers in school and in sport, took its toll on her body beyond what she was able to comprehend.
Recently, she developed gastrointestinal problems that were exacerbated by anxiety. She had recently been scheduled for surgery to repair the damage of her bleeding ulcer.
In our most recent session, this client had an epiphany, when she allowed herself to say out loud, "I'm not honest with myself."
How many of us could or would admit this?
