The Birth of Meditation in Your Life
The WISDOM podcast Season 3 Episode 16
"Your inner sanctuary is what builds and sustains your outer life."
💜
“Let’s make it official! You’ve just up levelled your meditation experience with me!”
If you’ve been listening to the podcast you know that I cover topics of spiritual and practical wisdom. This podcast is a medium for me to share with you what we might discuss in a client session of therapy and coaching, and what may be a recommendation for a new meditation for you to try...
I’ve also dedicated some episodes just for that – to share a meditation that is meant to evoke the space and the guidance to help you experience quiet moments and moments that are not so quiet because now you are hearing everything that was silenced before.
Meditation opens you to listen more deeply to the world within. Meditation allows you to calibrate your inner world with the perceptions you live in the world around you.
This means that the inner peace that you hold becomes the peace that you live and in all of your encounters with others.
Meditation is to listen to the space that you exist in; your physical environment – the kids playing downstairs, the neighbor's dog barking as someone walks by on the street; the ambient music playing in the background, the furnace that just turned off.
Maybe you have observed your brain – noticing what feels like neurons firing up; you can literally feel yourself awakening to your full cognitive functioning.
It could be the coffee but nonetheless, you are present to it ~ perceptive in ways that you have not noticed before.
So are you ready? Let's dive into together - let's birth this!
Your free form meditation practice experience of 5 minutes is about to ease you into one of the most incredible states of being.
This is your first step. Whether right now with me or after you listen to the rest of this audio, let’s together witness the space and time of now for five minutes.
Begin here because in five minutes your whole life can change.
If you would like to experience other guided meditation with me, you must check out The Wisdom Archives: a digital sanctuary of guided meditations, mindfulness musings, spiritual teachings, and best practices for your mental wellness. This is Self-Love.
The WISDOM podcast Season 3 Episode 14
- this episode is dedicated to each and every client that I have been able to help feel the love that exists within; and that they are capable of being -
💜
What if self-love was something that you simply need to open yourself to; and to refrain from what thoughts and then behaviours keep you closed off from feeling its incredible effects?
You may have been struggling with how to feel more self-love, or perhaps you want to live more alive and free in your life; less burdened with the state of your mind and the world.
Could you more easily feel the expression of beauty in life that exists everywhere you look?
I want to share a different perspective of self-love and one that is remarkable because self-love is your optimal state of functioning. It is how you feel at your best and most confident, and in a state of love you also live more authentic and true to who you are; uncompromising, purely creative, and carefree.
I think of it as a natural state of bliss, heaven on earth, and something that we are all able to experience here and now, and yes even in the midst of everything that we all have been living – and especially in the last couple of years.
As you align your thoughts and actions with love, you experience your higher good and your highest self as the pure energy of light.
This is how you feel when you flow easily with ideas, and as you welcome situations and as you are able to think and feel positively about your life and the world. It’s akin to feeling and expressing happiness, joy, and bliss.
So dive in with me. Open your mind and your heart to more of what you already know, or to something completely new that will help you with what self-love truly is, and how easy in fact it can be to live this.
Please check out the list of resources below for all of the goods including The Ultimate Self-Love toolkit.

LIVE AS LOVE. Do These 3 Things
The WISDOM podcast Season 3 Episode 12
- a heartfelt plan if you looking to reconnect with yourself, and as you grow along your spiritual path -
These three best practices are to help you begin each day in balance and on the right footing; to shift your perspective and to focus yourself on what is most important.
The beauty of each best practice whether used in conjunction with one another or unto themselves and as their inherent power will return you to your divine state – each and every time you embody these.
If you’ve been wondering how you can bring more joy, more love, more light into your life, these three best practices are the way in which you open yourself to the god source.
You open yourself to live as the divine; as the energy of pure and unconditional love; as you hold deliberate intention and as you open your heart to this.
All of us are on a spiritual path. When you merge your physical reality with your experience as a spiritual being, you embrace the wisdom of the love you hold in your heart as a metaphor for how you live.
Embody the practice of living as love.
Allow the energy of the divine – your soul consciousness – to open you to love and to being love.
And if you would like my help as you navigate this new year in your life; to find and reach your greatness, your goals, your personal triumphs.... please reach out to me. namaste! 🙏

THE HOLIDAY EPISODE
Practical Wisdom for Living The Magic, Wonder and True Meaning of the Holidays
The WISDOM podcast Season 1 Episode 10
A little love, magic and wonder from Season One...

Podcast Intro: 0-2:09 | Episode Intro & Your Thrive Guide to the Holidays: 2:11 | Do You Attempt to Recreate Magical Moments? 2:54 | 2 Questions to Engage Your Inner Wisdom for Joy and Happiness: 5:07 | Create Your Game Plan; aka Your Holiday Strategy: 7:31 | The Full Thrive Guide Formula: 3 Best Practices: 949 | 1. The psychology behind our desire to recreate and re-live our most cherished memories of holidays past is to feel that same childlike joy, fascination, and wonder that was magical.
In this episode we dive into the three best practices for cultivating the magic of the holidays in real time and the strategy for how to do this most successfully.
This is your thrive guide for the holidays.
TRUTH SERUM: You decide that something is magical and beautiful because of how you choose to think about it. Let your memories of Christmases past be inspiration as you witness the magic and beauty of life all around you. We sometimes forget our ability to conjure magic in simple things.
A-HA MOMENTS: It matters that you find and feel joy in the real meaning of the holidays. Practice being love, bringing joy, and offering peace as you cultivate the present moment experiences of wonder, joy, and enchantment at the holidays.
PRACTICAL WISDOM: It is you that co-creates the magic; by choice. This episode offers an experience of high level consciousness and the best strategy for cultivating magic, wonder and love.
~
Do you aim to recreate the magical moments of holidays past?
Do you imagine yourself at a particular moment in time during childhood where everything was enchanting and as if you were living in a fantasy?
We tend to go to moments of our childhood as they evoke imagination and powerful imagery that immediately places us back in that time of innocence, of wonder and of belief in the magic of the holidays.
Do you think back to memories that evoke pure joy, laughter and fun, so that you can feel those precise feelings now?
Discover new ways to feel the magic and wonder of the holidays by opening your heart and by being grateful for everything as it is now.
What can you say and do to bring joy and comfort to others through your kind words and actions?
Let's begin with a few questions. Right here is a perfect opportunity to engage your inner wisdom. Let whatever intuitive answers that rise up, be what you give your attention to.
What are your sources of joy?
What allows you to feel happiness easily?
Next ask yourself: How will I feel love, joy and happiness throughout the holidays?
The key here is: how will you feel this for yourself. (For example, do you need to to be kind to yourself to feel love? Do you feel joy and happiness when you are doing something that you enjoy?)
Take a few moments here and consider this. Let whatever impressions and pictures that come to mind be helpful cues for you. Record your answers so that you can remember this inspiration and implement it.
Your visual prompts and ideas will help you create a game plan.
The notes that you are making right here, right now will help you decide the strategy of the next several days and weeks of the holidays. It may also give you new ideas for the best practices in which to live your life.
As much as we all love to feel enchantment, magic and wonder, which is often cultivated by reminiscing about a past memory or experience that we associate with feelings of love and joy, I want you to decide how you will evoke these incredible feelings by choosing the specific actions and the attitude that will allow you to feel the way you want to feel throughout the holiday season.
And, and if you've already figured this out, yes indeed - this is about what you can do to evoke these feelings and not what you might wait for or hope that someone will do for you.
In thinking about how you will decide to feel the magic, wonder and love at this time of year, my hope is that this becomes a plan that inspires you to choose how you want to feel and experience life and to remember that above all else, you always have a choice and that it is you that defines your magical moments, whether at the holidays or any time because of your ability to hold presence in the moments of your life and to look for and see the beauty, the magic, in most everything; and perhaps in all of life.
What makes the holidays enjoyable, less stressful and chaotic, more nourishing of love and self-care, is a rather simple yet ingenious formula - your thrive guide if you will, consisting of three effective principles or 'best practices'.
First: 'Be Love'. Practice giving love to yourself - first.
Honor what you believe in and what is right for you (especially since others have different value systems and beliefs relating to the holidays). Ensure that you have ample time for giving to yourself; for what is important to you, and what nourishes your soul. This will always be healthy practices that allow you to feel 'in-balance', supported, and uplifted. Giving to yourself first is not selfish.
The definition of selfish is to lack consideration for others; and to seek or focus on your own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others.
Giving to yourself is self-nourishing, and builds healthy self-worth. It is necessary for your well-being and positive mental state to care for and be loving towards yourself.
As you practice and nurture self-love, it is easier to be loving to others; to give to others of your time and care, because you have first been able to care for your needs.
The questions and visualization we did a moment ago was to reveal to you what you need to feel happiness, joy and the energy of love. Ensure that you take these ideas and implement them daily.
As the holidays approach and then as you become immersed in them, give to yourself as the first task of the day; even if in small ways. To acknowledge love unto yourself will have great payoffs. You will feel more 'in balance', happier, more easily able to navigate stress and challenges, and you will find it even easier to give love to others.
This first principle is also a best practice for how to live life.
Learn to take care of your needs on a regular (moment-by-moment) basis so that you can easily be at your best, and to be this with others. Consider that when you are agitated or in a low mood, it will be more difficult to wear a smile and engage with positivism.
From a positive mood state, it is far easier and less stressful to engage in conversation and to be 'on' for the moments when you are in settings that are challenging. If it helps, repeat the mantra: 'be love' or 'I am love'. It will remind you of your higher consciousness directives and it will help so much with a joyful, loving holiday experience.
How do you become better at the choices that will help you take better care of yourself and do what nourishes your soul?
How do you better assess your needs and give yourself more love when there doesn't seem to be enough time in a day for this?
Here are some best practices and the positive mindset that is needed to ensure that you take the best care of yourself because to do so is self-nourishing and self-love.
1. Self-care and self-love begin as a mindset. It's something that you must decide is important first in order for you to make this a priority in your life. In the questions that you have already answered about what are your sources of joy and happiness, use your answers to inspire a plan for how you will practice self-care, balance, and love directed unto yourself during a time of year in which you may feel more pressure and external demands from others, and especially if you are new to this practice.
This is why it's important to decide and map out in advance, what you are comfortable to do, and what you will decline.
Saying 'yes' to everything may be helpful for some, however if you are honoring your needs and if this includes a need to decline some activities, or to choose how you will participate in something because in doing so, it honors your beliefs, then following this practice of self-care and self-love will help greatly in taking care of yourself.
Discover how you can give to yourself in the ways that will sustain you and allow you to feel inherent joy; and how this is important and not selfish nor self-serving.
Click to tweet!
Second: 'Bring joy'. When you are inherently happy; when you recognize that authentic happiness is an experience that you choose; and based upon the positive feelings that you allow yourself to feel; that are inherently a part of you, you know that happiness is not the result of what others think, say, or do.
This means that at holiday gatherings, others may not always be at their best; and you as well may have hurt feelings from unresolved past situations.
Without needing anything or anyone to be responsible for your happiness, you can choose to bring joy; to show up at holiday functions and family gatherings in a positive mood state, and this allows you to spread joy; to observe how your innate happiness is like a feel good experience that is contagious.
One of the easiest ways to feel happiness instinctively is through gratitude and love. If you are being loving, you are also going to feel happiness. When you are thankful for what is in your life; for all of the good that you might take for granted, you will immediately elicit feelings of happiness from within.
Be happy and fully present with family and friends. Practice feeling gratitude and love for all that you have in your life; even as you continue to work on making aspects different or better.
The holidays are a time for many of us to come together for a short while; make this time joyful.
Consider how magical it was for you to feel joy and happiness as a child because of how others wanted so much for you to feel the magic of the holidays. Now, bring joy into the lives of others as you decide to be happy and positive and as you share of yourself fully.
"Important for the success of family gatherings at the holidays is the practice of building and nurturing your relationships throughout the year. Then, when you come together at the holidays or at any family gathering, you will have built rapport and closeness which then makes it more enjoyable and easy to be with loved ones." - dorothy zennuriye juno
What would a healthier relationship look like? What are some simple steps that would improve your relationships? How would having better relationships with family members feel?
Here are a few helpful reminders as you navigate the relationships that are important to you, and how to improve connections, gain a deeper appreciation of a loved one, and to cultivate closeness and a positive and loving relationship:
1. Practice building and nurturing your relationships throughout the year so that it will be more enjoyable when you gather for festive occasions. Far in advance of the holidays and as a practice for how you live life fully, plan to keep in touch with loved ones, to make an effort to see people that are important family members, and to address disagreements or conflict so that you can resolve what hurts you (and others) are feeling.
This is an important practice that often gets lost in the busyness of our life and yet, we gain so much from making a conscious decision to invest more in our family relationships.
I've seen firsthand how the ongoing effort to reconnect and build closer relationships leads to much healing of past situations, and an opportunity to feel closeness and comfort in being together, so that you can all enjoy this improved relationship at the holidays, and ongoing.
At the very least, prior to gathering with family and other loved ones, if there is an unresolved hurt that may take some time and effort to resolve, a phone call or loving note to your loved one, explaining your desire to overcome past hurts; will go a long way to feeling the love and making a otherwise uncomfortable situation, far more comfortable.
2. If you are not interesting in the work of building a better relationship with a family member; perhaps because you have tried and this has been one-sided; and you recognize the limitations that exist, do your best to remain neutral; to be in the moment as you are together, rather than to focus on what hurts or bad behaviors have happened in the past. You may give yourself permission to not have a relationship with every person of your extended family.
If your time with this person is limited to gatherings once a year (if that); and if you have made peace with the fact that the person is how they are; that you are not responsible for changing them; then it is important for you to offer peace in your time with them; and not to use this setting to rehash the past or aim to change them.
Practice gratitude for your ability to put in place healthy boundaries and choose instead to offer kindness and peace here in this moment.

The Path of Truth
+ A Guided Meditation
The WISDOM podcast Season 3 Episode 1
Welcome to Season Three of The WISDOM podcast. We begin with the premise that you already know what is right for you.
Each time that you follow a path that honours you, that supports what you want; that lifts your spirit; that nourishes your inner being and allows you to live successful to what you have always wanted, there is a certain calmness that is felt. It is a state of inner peace, and the confidence that you have found what is right and best suited for you.
This is your path of truth.
In the accompanying meditation, you are encouraged to find your sacred path into light; into goodness; into doing what is right and best for you – for the situation, and ultimately as the right teaching of your heart.
It's a meditation that is meant to be experienced as a means of starting you along your spiritual path; for deepening your connection within, and for reminding you of all of the truth and wisdom you hold.
Next Sunday at 8pm EST, join me in Part Two of this Three part series in 'How Do I Live My Truth?'
Each Tuesday at 8pm EST, I take you on a journey - inside - what happens in a session of Life Coaching and Therapy in the 'ask dorothy' series as we answer the questions that honour your path and your life.

The WISDOM podcast S2 Bonus Episode 3
Here I offer the ways in which to think about presence during meditation and how to live in a state of presence in the moments of your life.
Presence teaches you how to willfully enjoy life’s moments, how to allow them in; to accept what they have to offer; to flourish in the experience of them, and to trust that everything by means of each singular moment is meaningful; each moment is significant.
When you practice presence, you become attuned to what is around you. You become more aware of the inward dwelling space of your inner being; and what allows you to witness yourself – your true nature – as the purest aspect of what you are.
Try this simple practice of presence for a moment with me. Close your eyes. Focus on your breathing. Soften into what you feel. Notice your heartbeat beneath the hand that you gently hold unto your heart center.
Presence is about joining in the moments of your life as they are already unfolding; and riding the wave of each moment; being one with them.
It is in this way that the practice of presence opens you. It draws you into the richness of the life you are living; and for seeing and experiencing more.
Sending you great love....

Chakra WISDOM: Your Anahata Chakra
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 78
Welcome back to this sacred journey into the chakras.
The chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC – more than four thousand years ago in the ancient literature of the Vedas. Evidence of the chakras, is also found in the Upanishads, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and perhaps most thoroughly in the sixteenth century by an Indian yogi in a text called the Sat-Chakra-Nirupana.
The chakra system was taught orally by the Indo-Eurpoean people (also called the Aryan people). It was traditionally considered an Eastern philosophy until New Age authors, like Anodea Judith and others, resonated with this wisdom and began writing about the chakras.
If you’ve been joining me in this series, I hope that you’ve allowed yourself to explore the wisdom of these ancient energy centers; these spinning sacred wheels of life. They are believed to hold energetic space within us; and which link areas of the body and psyche with associated metaphysical realms.
Within each episode in this series, I describe how each chakra affects our psychology, and our emotions and behaviours as human beings. Based on the teachings of this ancient wisdom and the modern day authors who bring this wisdom to life, I share it because it is yet another important way to understand the self; your patterns and behaviours; and how you may help yourself unblock and balance the flow of energy that moves through you. You also begin to draw insights and a helpful perspective from the ancient wisdom of the chakras, including what limiting thoughts and beliefs hold you back from living the full expression of life.
Perhaps, most important still, my hope is to give you additional resources and another source of self-healing; for finding and thriving ‘in balance’, and for helping to effect the change you seek – within yourself and of your life.
As I share with you the teachings of your fourth chakra, I reference and take direct quotes from Anodea Judith’s book: Eastern Body Western Mind: Psychology and the Chakra System as a Path to the Self and the work of Carolyn Myss and her book: Anatomy of the Spirit. The Seven Stages of Power and Healing. I’ll link up their work here in the description; as both are esteemed experts in this field, and these are great reads if you wish to learn more.
A chakra is a center of organization that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. Based on their location in the body the chakras have become associated with various states of consciousness, archetypal elements, and philosophical constructs. The lower chakras, for example which are physically closer to the earth, are related to the more practical matters of our lives – survival, movement, action. They are ruled by physical and social law. The upper chakras represent mental realms and work on a symbolic level through words, images, and concepts. Each of the seven chakras from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, represents a major area of human psychological health.
Here we dive into your Anahata, your heart center. Since the heart chakra is the middle point in a system of seven centers, balance, together with love and relationship) are the essential principles at this level of integration. This implies both internal balance between various aspects of ourselves (mind and body, persona and shadow, masculine and feminine), as well as between ourselves and the world around us (for example: work and play, giving and receiving, socializing and being alone).
It is important to continue to find and live in equilibrium, for without balance within ourselves it is difficult, if not impossible, to achieve healthy and long-lasting love relationships. The basic right of the heart chakra is to love and to be loved.
Be sure to take part in the guided meditation that closes out this episode. It is a beautiful experience in balancing the beautiful sacred energy of this chakra. 🧘♀️💜 Namaste!

The Four Essential Principles of Meditation
Part Four: P U R P O S E
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 68
Here we are. This episode rounds out this very special ‘how to’ meditation series of the four essential principles of meditation.
These are the foundational elements that will guide you in a successful practice of meditation and these are also the four elements that will lead you into the most beautiful experiences of your life.
If you’ve struggled with how to meditate; how to build a sustainable practice and a beautiful ritual; if you would like to have further gentle guidance that affirms the benefits of meditation and how it helps you in other areas of your life; “these principles are the path and the tools to your holy grail.” They are the masterful, integral elements to guide and support you as you begin your practice or nourish an existing one.
Meditation is something that teaches us how to go within to feel comfort and peace, to reclaim the path home – and into our self; and to quiet the thoughts that stir and rouse; that keep us distracted and far removed from accessing our inner state of calm and Zen - and meditation is one path into your inner wisdom, and the truth that lives within you.
Here in this fourth and final part of the essential principles of meditation, we examine the principle of purpose. As you listen on, consider how this final element is the beautiful accompaniment to the other three principles: that of presence, allowing and will; since purpose is what identifies and ignites the importance for why you choose to meditate; why you develop faith in its cumulative benefit – even if “nothing” seems to be happening at the surface – just yet; and how you witness the greater meaning and purpose of your practice beyond what you experience during meditation itself.
So let’s dive into this fourth principle and its true potential for supporting a beautiful practice and the approach that you bring to all of life. 💜

Self-Acceptance Is The Language of Self-Love
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 60
Self-acceptance is how you move into your heart. It is how you choose to witness yourself in the presence of wonder and great light. If you are listening perhaps you have contemplated what self-acceptance truly feels like; how it embraces all of you; how the majesty of what you are and what you hold becomes sacred.
To live in the acceptance of who and what you are is to live of your spiritual self. It is to hold true to who you are in the face of honoring what you seek to become; and in the presence of right action.
A part of what you will hear in this episode comes out of my 10-day course: ‘The Sacred Teachings of Being Love.’ You can find this course and others in The School of Wisdom. (This course is set to launch in the summer of 2021).
Self-acceptance is one extraordinary element to living whole and feeling self-love. It is intrinsically tied to how you live and respond in the world.
If you have been struggling to build your confidence. If your self-esteem has cause you to doubt your abilities. If your confidence needs to be reflective of all that you truly are, then sit back with attention; you may choose to close your eyes to take in all of my words as you allow this wisdom in to you; to be what you have been in search of.
Acceptance is the value of appreciation and approval. It is the inner felt knowledge that you are more than enough. It is self-love in words and actions that are spoken quietly to yourself and as you speak about yourself in conversation with others.
I share this sacred practice with you as most people struggle to feel true acceptance. It is a part of our inherent desire; to be approved of and accepted by others as a hard-wiring for our oneness. We look for ways to make ourselves better in what measures we believe will be externally valued - by society, media, religion, culture; when true acceptance can only be yours to give to yourself.
You may also seek to become more just to do this because it is important for you and for your personal goals and the desires that fuel your right action. Then, what improvements you pursue, will continue to benefit all of you. Think of self-acceptance as the language by which you speak to yourself as encouragement, as pride, as the methods by which you choose to hold value and self-love.
Here I share the most important builders of self-acceptance beginning with your ability to appreciate and be loving of all that you already are. You do this with gentle and kind words written and spoken and the ever-present appreciation for that which you do not take for granted; and that all that you are capable of.
My hope is that you will dive and take advantage of the skill practices of self-acceptance that I share here as an excerpt from the 10 day course: 'The Sacred Teachings of Being Love.' Self-Acceptance is the topic of Day Two of the course. This is one episode that you will want to dive into with pdf and pen!
Sending you much love....

- If you have ever wondered what a session of therapy could do, this episode is for you. -
How does one identify, effectively all of the ways that therapy can be of help? How do we do this without embracing the experience itself when the idea of talking with someone can be overwhelming for some who don’t know where to begin, or how it can truly help?
TRUTH SERUM: In the past, the stigma associated with mental health has been a deterrent to seeking therapy.
What we are witnessing now, in this turbulent time of ongoing change and uncertainty, and with millions of people all over the world, experiencing more alone time and isolation than in any other time during their life, the effects of prolonged stress and the lack of support of mental health strategies and skills needed to live a healthy and productive and happy life; make it important to have the best therapeutic practices that are accessible by all people and in all languages and as much as possible - affordable and or free.
REAL CLIENT STORIES: When my client (who was), diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 18, some 20 years later; is in a spell of low affect; when her cognitive ability is challenged; simple processing tasks are impeded.
It is more difficult for her to make decisions for example, and to feel motivated to complete daily tasks.
Her usual upbeat and larger than life personality becomes submersed in what is now a quiet and somber, depressed version of herself; one that lacks confidence, and is often tormented by thoughts of ‘being a burden’ to her loved ones.
Her words to me in these moments as well as when she is feeling ‘like herself’ and happy again, are substantial to us all. She reaffirms the simple truth: ‘Your mental health means everything’. She is right.
A-HA MOMENTS: Therapy is far more than talking about a traumatic childhood event and reliving its scaring impact.
In fact, the way that it helps best to deconstruct a past event or trauma is to examine it from an enlightened perspective; to understand the situation and the context in a way that allows for healing, forgiveness, acceptance, peace – and the idea that whatever happened, and for whatever was done “to you”, there are always going to be two positive outcomes that we will arrive at together.
(1) The first is a more accurate comprehension and understanding of the situation and the new insights and discoveries that arise out of a search for greater meaning and from that, the ability to come to acceptance. Acceptance does not mean agreement with what has happened, but rather the willingness to acknowledge what has already occurred.
This allows you to psychologically move into a place of action; of rendering what will be the action that you need to take whether as an approach to how you think or what physical actions will help support you best.
(2) Second, healing occurs when you hold acceptance of ‘what is’; emotional, psychological, cognitive, spiritual, and often physical in the relief of symptoms that were once related to the situation of the past and your perspective of it. This healing is the return to your wholeness that you; that we all - are inherently seeking.
PRACTICAL WISDOM: Even after the majority of healing has been completed, therapy can continue to be a place where one experiences growth in other areas of one’s life; and hence the ripple effect of what it means to learn and discover more (about one’s self, including the different choices one may choose with greater understanding and perspective).
As a side note, it’s not about making excuses for someone’s behavior, or disavowing your feelings and how you have been impacted by a situation or another.
Rather, examining the past from the vantage point of a different perspective that I or another therapist can help with, brings new insight and awareness that allows for healing and to alleviate some or all of the pain and suffering that one may have been holding onto.

If You Doubt Your Greatness, Do You Have The Imposter Syndrome?
The WISDOM Podcast Season 1 Episode 4
~ Our beliefs about our self and our abilities are established very early in life.
The words and messages that we repeatedly heard in childhood become what we think and believe. ~
Our caregivers have but one precious opportunity to help us nurture and develop healthy self-esteem and this occurs during the earliest part of our life. –
Fundamentally we learn our core beliefs in the first five years of life ~ much of which as we take in so much information about how to navigate successfully in our environment and within the social mores and customs of the world at large.
We need unconditional love and nurturing to develop trust in our self and our abilities and to thrive in the world.
Feeling secure and safe helps build our confidence to be self-reliant and successful ~ and to know that we are *lovable* and *good enough.*
---
Self-critical thoughts may cause us to doubt our abilities, to experience anxiety and to self-sabotage our inherent potential. These thoughts and beliefs originate as the well rehearsed messages from childhood that continue to haunt us and overtake our rational mind.
It takes so little to convince an innocent child that they are undeserving or not good enough.
Critical and berating words spoken by others (and our self) become the repetitive and discouraging ‘negative’ inner dialogue that causes self-doubt and a lack of belief (usually experienced as anxiety, fear, and a lack of confidence).
---
Though the imposter phenomenon isn’t an official diagnosis listed in the DSM-V, Psychologists and others acknowledge that it is a very real and specific form of *intellectual self-doubt*.
By definition, most people with imposter feelings suffer in silence.
Most people don’t talk about out of fear that they will be found out. –
*Source: American Psychological Association*
---
I see this often in my work with clients and it is through self-honesty and the willingness to hold up a metaphorical mirror to one’s self ~ to decide and commit to the changes that are needed that one no longer feels like an imposter.
On a spiritual level, you feel like a fraud or imposter because you know that you are not living your life in a way that is congruent to your highest self and in the most honorable way that you could.
It isn’t entirely about believing in one’s successes and ability without stepping up and into one’s truth.
That is living as the highest and best version of yourself as much as possible, that allows you to feel confident, worthy, and to own your successes completely.
If you find this notion insightful, and it is something that holds true for you, consider the moments in which you live authentic and of your highest self, when you are living your truth and when you are being your beautiful, loving, generous self.
Notice if in these same moments you feel certain, confident, and powerful and in which you own your abilities and successes in the world. Your feelings of being an imposter may also be the precipice for seeking to live your truth and for igniting your spiritual path in the direction of your highest self.
The compelling questions for so many people who identify with this phenomena is:
"HOW DO I FIX THIS?"
and...
How can I begin to believe that the good things that happen to me, including my successes and accomplishments, are because I am deserving, capable, and worthy of success?
DO YOU HAVE IMPOSTER SYNDROME?
(Featured Inside The JUNO app)
In therapy, I help clients identify the incorrect core beliefs that they have been taught to believe from a much earlier age. This is a powerful means of eradicating the underlying and often indiscernible root cause of self-doubt and the belief that one is a fraud (aka: an imposter). This process is intimate and personal, since each individual has their own set of both positive and problematic core beliefs. Identifying your problematic core beliefs is the first step in changing, and forming what are called new and accurate beliefs.
I then help clients to challenge and rewrite their problematic core beliefs with new statements that they know to be true. For some, this is relatively easy since when they discover the core belief that underlies their daily thought patterns, they realize instantly how incorrect it is. For others who believe their damaging core belief to be true – it is because they have lived it for some time; having found (whether real or imagined) what they believe is proof for their damaging core belief.
In either instance, there is a process for challenging problematic and untrue core beliefs that works extremely well in helping to eradicate an individual’s untrue belief and thus changing their perspective and their thoughts of themselves forever.
