The Truth Sets You Free
'ask dorothy'
The WISDOM podcast Season 3 Episode 42
~ Truth will lead you out of darkness because it is in illuminating ‘what is’ that you then may in the very next moment, find your path again and into the light. ~
💜
This episode picks up where we left on last in our discussion of the five Yamas – moral disciplines that are recorded in the ancient philosophical texts of the Yoga Sutras and here I dive into some ‘Q and A’ on the topic of truth.
Truthfulness or ‘Satya’ is the second yama or limb of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and this moral vow holds many secrets for how we can free ourselves from our suffering.
There are many ways that truth finds you. As much as some may avoid truth’s yearnings you can never avoid or deny its huge revelations.
I’m going to let you in on a huge secret to what will always bring joy into your life and for what will always reassure you – to live honourably – to feel supported in your decisions – and to always guide you along a right path.
Satya the Sanskrit word for truth is the definitive ground. It is what supports and upholds all of your faithful decisions. It is truth that compels you to seek change and to honour what you stand for and believe in.
Truth is how you create relations and connection and how you show yourself to be trustworthy and reliable. You need to know ‘what is’ true with accuracy and factual information in order to make the right and best decisions.
Truth is not always easy. It is not always what you want to hear or know especially if what is desired is something different. Let me say here that the truth will always be what you need to know.
You can work with truth. You can find your way to your right answers when you have the correct and accurate information.
Making a decision of any importance needs to rest upon knowing the truth.
Sending you great 💜 love...

There can be a place for forgiveness in your heart for the unkind and hurtful actions given by another; for any damaging and abusive behavior together with the harmful messages that have caused you to hold doubt and a lack of confidence in yourself and of your abilities ~ and for what has evoked within you ~ to question what you know is true and best for your life.
I want you to know that you can find a place for forgiveness in your heart and throughout your being - that leads you out of the sadness and suffering you have felt and into freedom: freedom that releases the hurts of the past, freedom that liberates you into the moments of now ~ and no longer mired in thoughts that ruminate on the extent of the damage that has been caused to you.
"You break the cycle when you liberate yourself from needing to make another person see the truth of their actions and to change, you free yourself to heal, to refocus on your life, and you are able to release your suffering.
You are not responsible for fixing another person nor a relationship.
You cannot change the past.
You must simply make a decision as to what kind of relationship this is realistically able to be based on all that you have been observing ~ of the other person, and yourself."
You may be wondering how forgiveness is a solution; how will it change any of the replete demonstrations of someone’s unkindness, dishonesty, and disrespect ~ or worse - the inconceivable acts of rage and violence from one human being to another.
Something that I want you to keep in mind as we go through this episode is the fact that people who are hurting, hurt others.
As humans, we repeat the cycle of dishonor, disrespect, aggression, and abuse in its many forms as learned behaviors and for as long as we remain unaware of and/or if we refuse to look at these actions with honesty and reverence.

A Meditation of LOVE and LIGHT
The WISDOM podcast Season 3 Episode 23
~ Trust in the wisdom of your innermost dwelling self. This is the part of you that lives awakened and of your light in the material world. ~
Have you ever wondered what the words 'love and light' symbolize? What is this salutation and greeting and how can these three simple words be the guiding metaphor for you and for each one of us, to free ourselves from the conditions that hold us back from being our true self?
Here and through the experience of guided meditation, embracing all religions and spiritual beliefs, let my words in this contemplative prose help you to discover your inner light and the love that you already are - to be and live in the world.
Love and light are the reminders of what your heart expresses in openness, in care, in love and in gratitude. It is what you exist as now and also what you aspire to.
In love and light you hold the space for yourself to exist. It is both a mantra and a reminder of how each one of us can walk through life in the pureness and grace of what we are.
You are love. You are the energy of love and pure light. If you see yourself as this; if you continue to remember that this is what you are, then you will feel at peace - comforted by your own choice to live as your light and of the playful ways that you are of love.
Now more than ever we thrive in our humanity; in the power of our word and our actions to live honorably - to be self-accountable and to always do the right thing.
In some of the episodes of The WISDOM podcast, I've previously included guided meditation because this is one important means of connecting with your highest self; to experience the energy of your heart, the energy of your being, to exist for a time as the nonphysical - to be aware of what you are beyond your mind and body and to also feel the peace and calm that exists within you.
I share this meditation of love and light. It's the first in a very special series of eight of which each meditation guides you on a journey deep within yourself and to witness the inner world of peace and tranquility, of love and kindness, of grace and the true power that we all hold when we live from this place.
Let your own life be guided by the presence of love and light. Let these words be your mantra for how you approach and live in all situations and of great dignity.
In the comments, I'd love to hear from you as to what you experienced during and after this heart opening meditation. It's a contemplate experience that awakens you to live as your nonphysical self - expansive and free.
Please settle into a comfortable posture and give this time and space to your whole being for the reminder of what you are and the gift of how to live of love and light now and always.
If you would like my help to feel the love and light that you are capable of living and feeling, please reach out to me. namaste! 🙏

This is Self-Love.
The WISDOM podcast Season 3 Episode 14
- this episode is dedicated to each and every client that I have been able to help feel the love that exists within; and that they are capable of being -
💜
What if self-love was something that you simply need to open yourself to; and to refrain from what thoughts and then behaviours keep you closed off from feeling its incredible effects?
You may have been struggling with how to feel more self-love, or perhaps you want to live more alive and free in your life; less burdened with the state of your mind and the world.
Could you more easily feel the expression of beauty in life that exists everywhere you look?
I want to share a different perspective of self-love and one that is remarkable because self-love is your optimal state of functioning. It is how you feel at your best and most confident, and in a state of love you also live more authentic and true to who you are; uncompromising, purely creative, and carefree.
I think of it as a natural state of bliss, heaven on earth, and something that we are all able to experience here and now, and yes even in the midst of everything that we all have been living – and especially in the last couple of years.
As you align your thoughts and actions with love, you experience your higher good and your highest self as the pure energy of light.
This is how you feel when you flow easily with ideas, and as you welcome situations and as you are able to think and feel positively about your life and the world. It’s akin to feeling and expressing happiness, joy, and bliss.
So dive in with me. Open your mind and your heart to more of what you already know, or to something completely new that will help you with what self-love truly is, and how easy in fact it can be to live this.
Please check out the list of resources below for all of the goods including The Ultimate Self-Love toolkit.

LIVE AS LOVE. Do These 3 Things
The WISDOM podcast Season 3 Episode 12
- a heartfelt plan if you looking to reconnect with yourself, and as you grow along your spiritual path -
These three best practices are to help you begin each day in balance and on the right footing; to shift your perspective and to focus yourself on what is most important.
The beauty of each best practice whether used in conjunction with one another or unto themselves and as their inherent power will return you to your divine state – each and every time you embody these.
If you’ve been wondering how you can bring more joy, more love, more light into your life, these three best practices are the way in which you open yourself to the god source.
You open yourself to live as the divine; as the energy of pure and unconditional love; as you hold deliberate intention and as you open your heart to this.
All of us are on a spiritual path. When you merge your physical reality with your experience as a spiritual being, you embrace the wisdom of the love you hold in your heart as a metaphor for how you live.
Embody the practice of living as love.
Allow the energy of the divine – your soul consciousness – to open you to love and to being love.
And if you would like my help as you navigate this new year in your life; to find and reach your greatness, your goals, your personal triumphs.... please reach out to me. namaste! 🙏

The psychology behind our desire to recreate and re-live our most cherished memories of holidays past is to feel that same childlike joy, fascination, and wonder that was magical.
In this episode we dive into The Three Best Practices for cultivating the magic of the holidays in real time; and the strategy for how to do this most successfully.
This is your thrive guide for the holidays.
TRUTH SERUM: You decide that something is magical and beautiful because of how you choose to think about it. Let your memories of Christmases past be inspiration as you witness the magic and beauty of life all around you. We sometimes forget our ability to conjure magic in simple things.
A-HA MOMENTS: It matters that you find and feel joy in the real meaning of the holidays. Practice being love, bringing joy, and offering peace as you cultivate the present moment experiences of wonder, joy, and enchantment at the holidays.
PRACTICAL WISDOM: It is you that co-creates the magic; by choice. This episode offers an experience of high level consciousness and the best strategy for cultivating magic, wonder and love.
Do you aim to recreate the magical moments of holidays past?
Do you imagine yourself at a particular moment in time during childhood where everything was enchanting; surreal, and as if you were living in a fantasy?
We tend to go to moments of our childhood as they evoke imagination and powerful imagery that immediately places us back in that time of innocence, of wonder, and of belief in the magic of the holidays.
Do you think back to memories that evoke pure joy, laughter, and fun, so that you can feel those precise feelings now?
As a child, you may have anticipated what gifts were waiting for you under the tree on Christmas morning or what you might receive on every night of Hanukkah.
As an adult, I encourage you to decide how you will curate magic and wonder by design so that you can experience joy, anticipation, excitement, and of course love because you've opened your heart to it; and because of the actions that you've taken to feel magic through the acts of giving, of being grateful, of loving kindness and of nurturing your relationships with your loved ones.
In this episode we dive into the best strategy for curating the magic of the holidays; and for experiencing joy in the anticipation of new experiences and shared laughter and fun. I hope that you will want to continue using these Three Best Practices as 'the' strategy for how you live life!
Discover new ways to feel the magic and wonder of the holidays by opening your heart; and by being grateful for everything as it is now.
What can you say and do to bring joy and comfort to others through your kind words and actions?
Let's begin with a few questions. Right here is a perfect opportunity to engage your inner wisdom. Let whatever intuitive answers that rise up, be what you give your attention to.
Grab some paper and a pen because you are going to want to capture the first impressions and ideas that enter your mind.
These are important and will be worth exploring more as you decide what new actions and thoughts you will hold for what you wish to co-create.
What are your sources of joy? What allows you to feel happiness easily?
Write your answers. Point form. Dare to speak these aloud so that you can hear the enjoyment in your voice as you speak your words.
Next ask yourself: How will I feel love, joy and happiness throughout the holidays?
The key here is: how will you feel this for yourself. (For example, do you need to to be kind to yourself to feel love? Do you feel joy and happiness when you are doing something that you enjoy?)
Take a few moments here and consider this. Let whatever impressions and pictures that come to mind be helpful cues for you. Record your answers so that you can remember this inspiration and implement it.
Your visual prompts and ideas will help you create a game plan.
The notes that you are making right here, right now will help you decide the strategy of the next several days and weeks of the holidays. It may also give you new ideas for the best practices in which to live your life.
As much as we all love to feel enchantment, magic, and wonder; which is often cultivated by reminiscing about a past memory or experience that we associate with feelings of love and joy, I want you to decide how you will evoke these incredible feelings by choosing the specific actions and the attitude that will allow you to feel the way you want to feel throughout the holiday season.
And, and if you've already figured this out, yes indeed - this is about what you can do to evoke these feelings and not what you might wait for or hope that someone will do for you.
We often idealize a situation that we would like but without taking all of the steps that ensures that we may have this. This is how you manifest your reality.
If you haven't yet, please listen next to Episode 8 of the WISDOM Podcast which is all about how you manifest your desires.
In thinking about how you will decide to feel the magic, wonder and love at this time of year, my hope is that this becomes a plan that inspires you to choose how you want to feel and experience life; and to remember that above all else, you always have a choice; and that it is you that defines your magical moments, whether at the holidays or any time because of your ability to hold presence in the moments of your life and to look for and see the beauty, the magic, in most everything; and perhaps in all of life.
What makes the holidays enjoyable, less stressful and chaotic, more nourishing of love and self-care, is a rather simple yet ingenious formula - your thrive guide if you will, consisting of three effective principles or 'best practices'.
First: 'Be Love'. Practice giving love to yourself - first.
Honour what you believe in and what is right for you (especially since others have different value systems and beliefs relating to the holidays). Ensure that you have ample time for giving to yourself; for what is important to you, and what nourishes your soul. This will always be healthy practices that allow you to feel 'in-balance', supported, and uplifted. Giving to yourself first is not selfish.
The definition of selfish is to lack consideration for others; and to seek or focus on your own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others.
Giving to yourself is self-nourishing, and builds healthy self-worth. It is necessary for your well-being and positive mental state to care for and be loving towards yourself.
As you practice and nurture self-love, it is easier to be loving to others; to give to others of your time and care, because you have first been able to care for your needs.
The questions and visualization we did a moment ago was to reveal to you what you need to feel happiness, joy and the energy of love. Ensure that you take these ideas and implement them daily.
As the holidays approach and then as you become immersed in them, give to yourself as the first task of the day; even if in small ways. To acknowledge love unto yourself will have great payoffs. You will feel more 'in balance', happier, more easily able to navigate stress and challenges, and you will find it even easier to give love to others.
This first principle is also a best practice for how to live life.
Learn to take care of your needs on a regular (moment-by-moment) basis so that you can easily be at your best, and to be this with others. Consider that when you are agitated or in a low mood, it will be more difficult to wear a smile and engage with positivism.
From a positive mood state, it is far easier and less stressful to engage in conversation and to be 'on' for the moments when you are in settings that are challenging. If it helps, repeat the mantra: 'be love' or 'I am love'. It will remind you of your higher consciousness directives and it will help so much with a joyful, loving holiday experience.
How do you become better at the choices that will help you take better care of yourself and do what nourishes your soul?
How do you better assess your needs and give yourself more love when there doesn't seem to be enough time in a day for this?
Here are some best practices and the positive mindset that is needed to ensure that you take the best care of yourself because to do so is self-nourishing and self-love.
1. Self-care and self-love begin as a mindset. It's something that you must decide is important first in order for you to make this a priority in your life. In the questions that you have already answered about what are your sources of joy and happiness, use your answers to inspire a plan for how you will practice self-care, balance, and love directed unto yourself during a time of year in which you may feel more pressure and external demands from others, and especially if you are new to this practice.
This is why it's important to decide and map out in advance, what you are comfortable to do, and what you will decline.
Saying 'yes' to everything may be helpful for some, however if you are honouring your needs and if this includes a need to decline some activities, or to choose how you will participate in something because in doing so, it honours your beliefs, then following this practice of self-care and self-love will help greatly in taking care of yourself.
Discover how you can give to yourself in the ways that will sustain you and allow you to feel inherent joy; and how this is important and not selfish nor self-serving.
Second: 'Bring joy'. When you are inherently happy; when you recognize that authentic happiness is an experience that you choose; and based upon the positive feelings that you allow yourself to feel; that are inherently a part of you, you know that happiness is not the result of what others think, say, or do.
This means that at holiday gatherings, others may not always be at their best; and you as well may have hurt feelings from unresolved past situations.
Without needing anything or anyone to be responsible for your happiness, you can choose to bring joy; to show up at holiday functions and family gatherings in a positive mood state, and this allows you to spread joy; to observe how your innate happiness is like a feel good experience that is contagious.
One of the easiest ways to feel happiness instinctively is through gratitude and love. If you are being loving, you are also going to feel happiness. When you are thankful for what is in your life; for all of the good that you might take for granted, you will immediately elicit feelings of happiness from within.
Be happy and fully present with family and friends. Practice feeling gratitude and love for all that you have in your life; even as you continue to work on making aspects different or better.
The holidays are a time for many of us to come together for a short while; make this time joyful.
Consider how magical it was for you to feel joy and happiness as a child because of how others wanted so much for you to feel the magic of the holidays. Now, bring joy into the lives of others as you decide to be happy and positive and as you share of yourself fully.
"Important for the success of family gatherings at the holidays is the practice of building and nurturing your relationships throughout the year. Then, when you come together at the holidays or at any family gathering, you will have built rapport and closeness which then makes it more enjoyable and easy to be with loved ones." - dorothy ratusny
What would a healthier relationship look like? What are some simple steps that would improve your relationships? How would having better relationships with family members feel?
Here are a few helpful reminders as you navigate the relationships that are important to you, and how to improve connections, gain a deeper appreciation of a loved one, and to cultivate closeness and a positive and loving relationship:
1. Practice building and nurturing your relationships throughout the year so that it will be more enjoyable when you gather for festive occasions. Far in advance of the holidays and as a practice for how you live life fully, plan to keep in touch with loved ones, to make an effort to see people that are important family members, and to address disagreements or conflict so that you can resolve what hurts you (and others) are feeling.
This is an important practice that often gets lost in the busyness of our life and yet, we gain so much from making a conscious decision to invest more in our family relationships.
I've seen firsthand how the ongoing effort to reconnect and build closer relationships leads to much healing of past situations, and an opportunity to feel closeness and comfort in being together, so that you can all enjoy this improved relationship at the holidays, and ongoing.
At the very least, prior to gathering with family and other loved ones, if there is an unresolved hurt that may take some time and effort to resolve, a phone call or loving note to your loved one, explaining your desire to overcome past hurts; will go a long way to feeling the love and making a otherwise uncomfortable situation, far more comfortable.
2. If you are not interesting in the work of building a better relationship with a family member; perhaps because you have tried and this has been one-sided; and you recognize the limitations that exist, do your best to remain neutral; to be in the moment as you are together, rather than to focus on what hurts or bad behaviours have happened in the past. You may give yourself permission to not have a relationship with every person of your extended family.
If your time with this person is limited to gatherings once a year (if that); and if you have made peace with the fact that the person is how they are; that you are not responsible for changing them; then it is important for you to offer peace in your time with them; and not to use this setting to rehash the past or aim to change them.
Practice gratitude for your ability to put in place healthy boundaries and choose instead to offer kindness and peace here in this moment.

Chakra WISDOM: Your Anja Chakra
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 82
Welcome to this sacred journey into the chakras. Each of the seven major chakras that we explore together in this series, influence and govern accompanying areas of the body as well as emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual states that impact our path into the self.
The chakras are vertically aligned, running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. At each stage we gain a more refined understanding of personal and spiritual power. Each chakra represents a spiritual life-lesson or challenge common to all human beings. Mastering the lessons inherent in each chakra, we gain wisdom, empowerment and self-knowledge that becomes integrated into our spirit, advancing us along our path towards spiritual consciousness.
Here, as with the other episodes in this 7-part series, I take lead from the work of experts, one of whom is Carolyn Myss. She is a medical intuitive and one of my longtime favorite authors. Her book: ‘Anatomy of the Spirit. The Seven Stages of Power and Healing’ is a beautiful read of the chakra system and from where I directly quote and reference much of the teachings for the third chakra; our focus of this episode.
The sixth chakra involves our mental and reasoning abilities, and our psychological skill at evaluating our beliefs and attitudes. Often referred to as the third eye or mind's eye, the Anja or brow chakra is the command center for your subtle body. Located just above and between your eyebrows, this chakra resonates to the energies of our psyches, our conscious and unconscious psychological forces.
Within Eastern spiritual literature, the sixth chakra is the spiritual center in which the interaction of mind and psyche can lead to intuitive sight and wisdom. Attention and meditation on this chakra bestow wisdom, clarity of vision and increased intuition, allowing you to begin to see life's bigger picture.
The Anja chakra presides over your mind and your sense of self. Although this chakra strictly speaking has no element associated with it, the mind could be thought of as the brow chakra's element, since the mind controls the senses and vital energy. Of all the chakras, the energy here has the most powerful effect on your personality.
This chakra is the seat of your judgment, your emotional intelligence and your notion of reality, rationality and wisdom.
Six spiritual 'powers' are associated with this chakra: (1) unobstructed meditation, (2) perfect concentration, (3) the ability to direct your undivided attention, (4) thought-control, (5) samadhi or the super-conscious state, (6) and the attainment of enlightenment.
Be sure to take part in the guided meditation that closes out this episode. It is a beautiful experience in balancing the beautiful sacred energy of this chakra. 🧘♀️💜 Namaste!

Chakra WISDOM: Your Anahata Chakra
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 78
Welcome back to this sacred journey into the chakras.
The chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC – more than four thousand years ago in the ancient literature of the Vedas. Evidence of the chakras, is also found in the Upanishads, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and perhaps most thoroughly in the sixteenth century by an Indian yogi in a text called the Sat-Chakra-Nirupana.
The chakra system was taught orally by the Indo-Eurpoean people (also called the Aryan people). It was traditionally considered an Eastern philosophy until New Age authors, like Anodea Judith and others, resonated with this wisdom and began writing about the chakras.
If you’ve been joining me in this series, I hope that you’ve allowed yourself to explore the wisdom of these ancient energy centers; these spinning sacred wheels of life. They are believed to hold energetic space within us; and which link areas of the body and psyche with associated metaphysical realms.
Within each episode in this series, I describe how each chakra affects our psychology, and our emotions and behaviours as human beings. Based on the teachings of this ancient wisdom and the modern day authors who bring this wisdom to life, I share it because it is yet another important way to understand the self; your patterns and behaviours; and how you may help yourself unblock and balance the flow of energy that moves through you. You also begin to draw insights and a helpful perspective from the ancient wisdom of the chakras, including what limiting thoughts and beliefs hold you back from living the full expression of life.
Perhaps, most important still, my hope is to give you additional resources and another source of self-healing; for finding and thriving ‘in balance’, and for helping to effect the change you seek – within yourself and of your life.
As I share with you the teachings of your fourth chakra, I reference and take direct quotes from Anodea Judith’s book: Eastern Body Western Mind: Psychology and the Chakra System as a Path to the Self and the work of Carolyn Myss and her book: Anatomy of the Spirit. The Seven Stages of Power and Healing. I’ll link up their work here in the description; as both are esteemed experts in this field, and these are great reads if you wish to learn more.
A chakra is a center of organization that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. Based on their location in the body the chakras have become associated with various states of consciousness, archetypal elements, and philosophical constructs. The lower chakras, for example which are physically closer to the earth, are related to the more practical matters of our lives – survival, movement, action. They are ruled by physical and social law. The upper chakras represent mental realms and work on a symbolic level through words, images, and concepts. Each of the seven chakras from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, represents a major area of human psychological health.
Here we dive into your Anahata, your heart center. Since the heart chakra is the middle point in a system of seven centers, balance, together with love and relationship) are the essential principles at this level of integration. This implies both internal balance between various aspects of ourselves (mind and body, persona and shadow, masculine and feminine), as well as between ourselves and the world around us (for example: work and play, giving and receiving, socializing and being alone).
It is important to continue to find and live in equilibrium, for without balance within ourselves it is difficult, if not impossible, to achieve healthy and long-lasting love relationships. The basic right of the heart chakra is to love and to be loved.
Be sure to take part in the guided meditation that closes out this episode. It is a beautiful experience in balancing the beautiful sacred energy of this chakra. 🧘♀️💜 Namaste!

The Four Essential Principles of Meditation
Part Three: W I L L
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 66
In this episode we dive in to part three of a four-part series of the essential principles of meditation.
Whether you meditate daily or every once in awhile; whether you are looking to return to a regular practice that you once cultivated, or deepen the experiences you have, you shall as you embrace each of these four principles, have all that you need to witness and know one of the most experiences of life.
Let these four essential principles be the pillars of your experience, both in meditation and also what you live in daily life for each of these will serve you in the best possible way; to live awake, to be present to the moments of life that exist for you; and to witness using all of your senses.
This third essential principle is so very important for your practice. It sets the tone for what you will experience without pressure or expectation. Will guides the mind and the heart. It is a powerful representation of how you manifest and co-create your life and it offers much abundance to the experience that you will have during meditation.
W I L L is the language of your heart’s desire; of decisions that you make to guide and support you through all things. W I L L is the resolve you hold to see something of value and importance through to completion. It is will that ensures your success beyond intention for will is the dedication and pursuit that is needed to take an idea, a desire, an intention and to transform this into the physical material reality that you live.
Let W I L L be a demonstration of your inner peace; your desires revealed with love and for the betterment of your life.

The Four Essential Principles of Meditation
Part Two: A L L O W I N G
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 64
In this episode we dive in to part two of a four-part series of the essential principles of meditation.
Here in part two, we dive into allowing and the true benefit of being receptive; to be inclusive of your experiences - both in meditation and in all of life.
In meditation, allowing is the open awareness of all that you observe and witness in the absence of judgment. You can witness something and accept that it is already here in the physical world – unchangeable – and you can choose in the very next moment what you will bring into your life through your deliberate actions and the holding of presence as you focus inward; perhaps unto your heart center or your breath. Out of the present moment you observe yourself in calm – in now.
The principle of allowing teaches you to be inclusive; and to accept what you witness. The choices you make out of this moment empower you; to continue to observe; to learn, to seek greater understanding as when you may wish to sit with what emotions you are experiencing for a time and to take right action towards what is desired.
The teaching of this principle helps you to develop your ability to witness first; and then out of the ability to allow your experience you may then be guided out of this knowledge to choose based on what is right and best for you.

The Four Essential Principles of Meditation
Part One: P R E S E N C E
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 62
Meditation is the art of deliberate focus and attention unto a single point or object. There are different ways that you can meditate.
To meditate is to live in the knowledge and grace of what is here before you; to witness “what is” – in this moment. In the present moment you witness a state of inner peace and calm that is always present within you; and that which you may attune to both during meditation and in other moments of your life. One of the benefits of a regular practice is to more easily return to and live in the inner calm that exists within you.
This is the first of a four-part series designed to help you begin a 10-15 minute self-directed practice that you can lead yourself through with confidence. These four foundational principles are also helpful to inspire your existing practice, and to build further on the skills that you already have.
The first of four essential principles of meditation is that of PRESENCE.
Presence is: the idea of attention and mindful awareness to what you observe here and in each moment
This means to notice when you are thinking about the past or future so you may actively return your attention to here... and now.
When you live in the presence of this moment; and for each moment – as the only moment that is truly important; and in which you are able to effect change; to choose; to take thoughtful and deliberate actions, to feel; to witness life unfolding and to imagine in the present what is desired of the future. There is no other moment in which to live from.
