Love Your Body | A Real Life Client Story
The WISDOM podcast Season 2 Episode 51
This client story highlights the ongoing struggle of our human condition to accept and approve of our self as we are.
This client had made the decision to have breast augmentation surgery in part, she admits, because her partner at the time had made disparaging remarks about her body.
She believed that having this surgery and implants would improve her body image and confidence.
Post surgery, she discovered that the size of her implants were much larger than she had anticipated.
The words of her surgeon ring clearly in her ears, even to this day: “No one,” he said “is ever disappointed that their chest is too large.”
My client admits that this decision was life altering, but not in the way that she had hoped. She actually took great effort to now conceal her chest (something that she had never done before), because she felt self-conscious and that her implants were far “too large”.
What was supposed to help her feel “better about her body” actually resulted in her feeling self-conscious and uncomfortable with the unwanted attention.
I wanted to share the truth of this client’s story as I imagine that other women have also been left to deal with the psychological implications of their experience of breast augmentation surgery, in silence and alone.
